The Museums Workers Group is open to all museum staff and volunteers. The group welcomes participation from conservators, curators, documentation officers, education & interpretation staff, designers, visitor service staff, security officers and any other workers in the museum sector. Anybody working or volunteering in museums can become a member; it doesn’t matter if you are part time, volunteer or from an independent museum.
The Group provides a forum for museum workers from across the county to discuss issues, advise the Museums In Essex Committee or respond to local and national initiatives. This includes:
Archives in museums Museum Accreditation Recording archaeological finds Archaeological deposition guidelines Advising on the Essex Museum Development Fund Touring exhibitions
Meetings are held four times year at different museum venues around the county. Typically the meetings are followed by a tour and skills sharing session at the host museum in the afternoon.
