Current exhibitions available are

THE LONGEST JOURNEY: FROM SLAVERY TO abOlITIOn

This exhibtion examines the history of the transatlatnic slave trade, the people involved and the movement that resulted in its abolition in 1807.  the exhibtion ighlights many of the people that were involved and how the trade directly effected the lives of people in the eastern region.

Beneath Essex

This exhibition explores geology within Essex providing visitors a chance to touch and feel rocks and fossils. It consists of 3 display pods each with 4 interpeation panels and interactive handling station.

The hire fee is £500 plus VAT for any reasonable time (ie up to about 6 months) with possible discounts for small museums.

A return to Brambly Hedge

An exhibition celebrating 25 years of Brambly Hedge, with artwork by Jill Barklem. This exhibition features the stories and art from popular series about the Brambly Hedge mice to explore issues of caring for our natural environment. The display will be primarily aimed at young children including those in reception years and their families.

Price; The exhibition is free to all MIEC members. Host venue will be expected to collect the exhibition.

Portable Antiquities exhibition should be “Small Things Considered”

This exhibition highlights the work of the Portable Antiquities Scheme in Essex and informs the public on how they can make their own contribution, by recording their archaeological discoveries with the Finds Liaison Officer. The aim of the exhibition is too encourage members of the public to loan their objects for display, providing them with the opportunity to make curatorial decisions themselves and involve them with work of their local museum.

National Monuments Photographic Exhibition

The National Monuments Record is coming together with the Museums in Essex Committee and a team of museums from across the county to produce an exhibition of photographs illustrating the changing face of Essex landscapes and historic buildings. Images from the MNR archive and Essex museum collections will be displayed in partnership.
